This post provides a last minute Christmas gift idea and a BONUS Molasses cookie recipe!

Thrifted Christmas gifts are sometimes hard to find, or maybe feel a little weird to gift something secondhand. However, these vintage cookie tins are a great thing to thrift & gift because they are easy to deep clean, so you can be confident in gifting them secondhand. And there are always SO MANY at the thrift store to choose from!
My husband and I have been on a huge molasses cookie kick this Christmas season, and I’ve tried & tweaked a few recipes to find the perfect one (at least the one we prefer the most). So when I saw these vintage cookie tins at the Arc (a local thrift store), all of my molasses cookie recipe trials came to mind!

We wanted to gift our neighbors a little something, and homemade molasses cookies seemed like a great, budget friendly, yummy option.
If you’re looking for a last minute Christmas gift for a friend, extended family member, coworker, or neighbor, this is a great budget friendly gift. If baking isn’t your thing, you could fill the cookie tins with some other tasty snack, or anything really!
How to Clean Vintage Cookie Tins

When I got home from the thrift store, I gave the tins an initial wipe down to remove anything in them. Then, I soaked both the tin and the lid in hot soapy water for at least 20 minutes.
After soaking, you may want to use Goo Gone and/or a razor blade scraper to help with any sticky areas from sticker residue. Last, I scrubbed the cookie tins with dish brush. Then rinse, and you are good to go!
